Cape Locally Grown:  Why Local Rocks!

Why buy local?!?

Produce is more nutrient dense.
The more time it takes from the farm to your plate the less nutrition you end up with.

Your $$$ is supporting the local economy. When the local economy is flourishing you contribute to a more stable future.

Small producers can produce a higher quality product.

You make some great friends!!!

Be part of the solution! BUY LOCAL!

Spa City Local Farm Market Co-op:  SOLAR PANEL COOPERATIVE MEETING

Spa City Co-op members -

If you are thinking about the possibility of installing solar panels on your sunny roof or property you may be interested in coming to an organizational meeting at the Unitarian Universalist Church tomorrow, Weds., Jan 28, at 5:30 p.m.

The meeting is sponsored by Arkansas Renewable Energy Association and Arkansas Interfaith Power and Light.

Frank Kelly, Chairman of Arkansas Renewable Energy Association, will facilitate discussion of how homeowners, schools, houses of worship, and small businesses might purchase clean energy systems together. Participants benefit from group negotiating power and bulk prices.

Frank will be joined by Hot Springs solar advocates Denise Marion, Robert Nagy, a solar installation instructor at National Park College, and Matt Surgeson, a photovoltaic designer and installer.

For more information contact Denise Marion, 655-3130.

Tullahoma Locally Grown:  Our Market is open!

The market is open! Order before Wednesday at Noon.

Dogwood Valley Greenhouse has added several nice houseplants to the listings. Available now are needlepoint ivy, cape primrose, wandering jew, and two colors of spider plant, all in 10" hanging baskets. We also have several very nice succulent planters and herb collection baskets for your table or windowsill. Panda plants and aloe vera plants would also be good additions to your winter indoor garden. All these need to stay inside until our frost-free date near the end of April, then will be happy to spend the summer on porch or patio.

We are also making decisions about spring offerings of flowering hanging baskets, vegetable plants in gallon pots, and 6 packs of bedding plants. If there is something special you would be interested in, please let us know by e-mail to tnhomeschooler@yahoo.com.
